a sniff by any other name

This is a reminder to myself. The next time I need to download my favourite packet sniffer, I shan't look for Ethereal anymore, for Ethereal is now known as Wireshark. I've used Ethereal so much in the past, whether to track down a Russian spammer/WaReZ hocker or to detect a rogue worm running rampant on a LAN, it's a lifesaver when you really need it. It's nice to see its development continue, even though I liked the old name better.

Where you been? It’s been Wireshark for long long time now :P .

Designing and coding enterprise apps by day, and web apps by night – that’s where I’ve been :) We have network guys at work that keep an eye on traffic, load balancing, OSI layers and all that network-y stuff. I only use tools like Wireshark now when Dena’s office’s LAN goes wonky and they ask me to look at it. So I’ve been out of the network tools loop.

I see now :D . I’d be on the side of the network guys that does all that fun stuff. I haven’t needed to use Wireshark as of yet, as all I’ve been doing is getting router backups ready in case one goes down it can be replaced quick like :D .

    Dena – Stars suck

    Chris – Flames suck

    Me- Flyers suck

At least they can all play golf together now! Soon the Wings will join them :) .
